Best Detox Diet

Many people are finding that they need to cleanse their body on occasion to renew their energy and vitality levels. We accumulate toxins from foods we eat and the air we breath. While our bodies have organs designed to eliminate toxins, they can be overwhelmed by the amount of toxins in the modern world. So people turn to a body cleansing diet and want to know which is the best detox diet.



There are several types of these body cleansing diet. Some are meant to be used just to do the cleansing and some are meant to also aid in weight loss. As in any type of diet you should consult your physician before starting. It is also not recommended to undertake this type of diet if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or experiencing any other health issue.

Here are some of the better known detox diets:

lemon juice – in this diet you squeeze two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and combine it with 2 tablespoons of grade B maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper. Mix that with six to eight ounces of filtered water. Drink eight glasses a day and nothing else. Only do this for a few days maximum.

water fast – as the name suggest you do not eat anything or drink anything except eight glasses of filtered water. Be very careful with this – you need to be in very good health to do this and you should avoid strenuous activities. Generally this should not be done for more than two or three days.

juice fast – drink only fresh squeezed fruit or vegetable juice, You will need a juicer and the juice needs to be fresh squeezed. Also do not mix fruit and vegetable juice in the same time – have one or the other for each meal.

high fiber – use supplements or only high fiber cereals to increase your bulk intake. This diet is only used fro detox purposed not weight loss.

All of the above diets are meant to be followed for a short period. When you come off of any of these diets you should transition to a light diet of fresh fruits and vegetables. After a few days you can introduce more complex foods such as grains and proteins. This additional diet will further your cleansing process and make you feel even better.

So what is the best detox diet. Well as outlined above it depends on your goals but the real answer is the best is the one you can stick with. Any of these can have the desire effect of cleansing your body, so whichever one works for you is the best.
